Arno Jansen van Vuuren
Director
Tax & Corporate Structuring
Arno obtained an LLB degree from the University of Pretoria (UP), and is an Admitted Attorney of the High Court of South Africa.
He continued his education by obtaining a Contract Drafting Certificate, and completed an Advanced Short Course in Business Rescue Practice at the University of South Africa (UNISA).
His extensive experience, as an independent Practicing Attorney, as well as working for legal practices like Gideon Pretorius Attorneys, Van Vuuren Attorneys, and Klopper Myburg Gwangwa & Associates Incorporated makes his services invaluable to business that has to negotiate the maze of legal and procedural red tape.
Practical experience includes Practice Management, Landlord and Tenant Litigation, Commercial Litigation, Construction Law, Commercial Drafting, Company mergers and Acquisitions, Company Restructuring and Re-engineering, Broad Based Black Economic Empowerment, Strategic Alliances, Cross Border Transactions, Trust Structures, Company and Secretarial Services, Commercial Litigation, Commercial Drafting, Corporate Turnaround Strategies, and Tax Law.
He was and remains instrumental in local and international mergers, also acted as Legal Representative for a number of companies and individuals, and remains an Acting Chairperson of the Tax Board (SARS).

Bertus Coetzee
Director
Law of Contracts & BBBEE
Bertus is an Admitted Attorney of the High Court of South Africa, he obtained a BCom degree with specialisation in Law from the University of Pretoria in 2010, and an LLB degree in 2012.
He was honoured for a variety of academic achievements during his studies, including: Member of the Honorary Golden Key Society for academic excellence (by invitation only); Member of the Golden Key International Honours Society reserved (by invitation only) for the top 10% achievers in the Economic and Business Sciences Faculty of the UP; a Certificate of Merit for the highest marks obtained in Criminal Law 410 and Law of Securities 410. He obtained his LLB degree with distinction; was included in the Dean’s Merit List for outstanding academic achievement; and obtained the highest mark for Motor Vehicle Accidents in Law School.
Before joining STRATLAW he was a Commercial Attorney at KMG and Associates Incorporated, focusing on Commercial Law and Commercial Contract Drafting which included drafting of Lease Agreements, Memorandums of Incorporation, Service Level Agreements, Loan Agreements, Sale of Shares Agreements, Agency Agreements, and more. His main areas of practice include Company Mergers and Acquisitions, Company Restructuring, Trust Structures, Company Secretarial Services, Broad Based Black Economic Empowerment, and Tax Law.
He has been a director at STRATLAW since 2015 providing strategic legal advice, with a focus on commercial law, Commercial Contract Drafting and Risk assessments on commercial contracts.
Grové Badenhorst
Head of Department: Labour Law
Grové Badenhorst has enjoyed a successful professional career spanning 18 years, of which 15 years have been in Industrial Relations and Labour Consultancy. While in this role, Grové gained extensive experience in all aspects of Employment law, having assisted a wide range of employers, ranging in size from sole proprietorships to multinational corporations.
Grové ascribes to the school of thought that views an employer’s workforce as more than just the cost of doing business, but as a core business asset whose value can be maximized through strategic investment and management—just like any other asset.
He enjoys the ability to write and implement efficient work policies, programmes, procedures, strategies all whilst understanding the nature and requirements thereof, to minimise the inherent risks involved with employment. Furthermore, he has also successfully guided the development and implementation of such policies, procedures and practices on behalf of employers to ensure organizational objectives are achieved within timeframes, budget and achieve competitiveness within the rapidly changing labour environment, whilst understanding the competing priorities within an organisation.
Grové Badenhorst

Johann Hattingh
Head of Department: Corporate Governance
Johann Hattingh studied LLB at the North West University, Potchefstroom Campus and obtained his degree in 2010, and was admitted in 2013.
He started his career in 2011 in Bethlehem as a candidate attorney and moved to Pretoria in 2012, where he was admitted and still works as a Corporate Governance and Compliance Advisor.
In 2018 he studied further at the University of Johannesburg where he obtained post graduate certificates in Anti – Money Laundering and Terror Financing, Compliance Management and Corporate Governance. He made the transition from private practice to the corporate world in 2018 as a Group Compliance Officer, and currently works at Stratlaw (Pty) Ltd. as a Corporate Governance and Compliance Advisor.
Johann has experience in civil and criminal litigation, labour law, drafting of commercial agreements and Corporate Governance and Compliance.
Deidré van Niekerk
Head of Department: Trusts & Estates
Deidré studied LLB at the University of South Africa and obtained her degree in 2020 with electives in Medical Law and Selected Private and Criminal Law Principles of the Internet. She was admitted as an Attorney in 2023 and appointed at Stratlaw as the head of Trusts and Estates. Her law career however commenced in 2006 in supporting roles which provided her with first hand experience in the fields of magistrate and high court litigation, family law, personal injury law, legal costs, commercial law and contract drafting.
